Art show in Blue Ridge

Leopard Maze
Multitudes Gallery in Blue Ridge, Georgia will present new work by photographer/artist, Margie K. Carroll, in a show entitled ANIMASQUES opening Saturday May 27, 2006, during ARTS In The PARK weekend. There will be a reception for the artist from 6 9 pm on Saturday evening, the public is invited. Margie K. Carroll's reputation as a wildlife photographer is recognized regionally and is fast being recognized at a national level. The new body of work began with her recent photo safari to Africa where she captured a set of remarkable images of African wildlife, then through the magic of digital manipulation explored the symmetry, design and patterns found in the animal world. The result of this work is a fascinating display of forms and patterns that invite the viewer to explore more closely the beautiful patterns of nature.

Multitudes Gallery is located in Hampton Square at 11 Mountain Street, Blue Ridge, Georgia. Call the gallery at 706632-1718 or visit www.multitudesgallery.com  for more information.

In the artist's words, "Many times a pleasing photograph is the result of harmonious shapes and color tones or an engaging subject that affects the viewer through actions, an intense stare of an eye or a languid stretch after a cheetah's cat nap on a termite mound.

Margie K. Carroll, photographer
Photographs capture moments that will never reoccur. Still photography allows the viewer a luxurious moment with the subject and validates the illusive emotion I felt at the moment of capture. The images I share are reflections of how I see our beautiful, complex world.

In making my animal designs I call "Animasques", I present designs resulting from compiling many identical animal images to form something that didn't exist before. In a way, it reverses the way of looking at photographs as a compilation of many small dots of color information.

With Animasques I take full animal forms and arrange them to create designs. "

Margie K. Carroll resides part of the year on her mini farm in Blairsville, Georgia and the remainder of her time in Boca Grande, Florida photographing the rich abundance of aviary and aquatic wildlife in south Florida. Her show will run May 27, through July 8, 2006.
